Artist's Comments

Time to roll out the old schoolwork again. For this assignment we had to create an illustration for Christina Rossetti's "Goblin Market," a lengthy poem about two sisters who become involved with... well, a goblin market. The goblins in question try to ensnare people by tempting them with beautiful, sinfully delicious fruit, kind of like supernatural drug pushers. And if it seems vaguely erotic, that's alright... it is a vaguely erotic story. Especially when the... well, read it yourself. It's all over the place online.

Awesome stuff...I love the wolfy-lookin' guy in the bottom right, and the one holding grapes just to his left...but the whole thing is creatively thought out and drawn. The fact that they are all squished into squares without showing actual lines is somehow very cool... :)

The layout on this is particularly intriguing.

The one in the center, second from the top looks particularly lapine. Reminds me of Max. It actually took me several looks to realize that there was another goblin in the space above. Only slightly more time than it took me to realize that the one center bottom was the owner of the arm holding the pear-like fruit.

(as an aside, I joined DevArt specifically to put you on watch)

Deliciously awesome. Reminds me alot of Giger's stuff, only less metallic.

Ha, supernatural fruit pushers.

My argument against God was that the universe is cruel and unjust. But where did I get the idea of just and unjust? A man doesn't call a line crooked unless he has some idea of a straight line. What was I comparing the universe to when I called it unjust?
